December 2015: CFD Holiday Gifts

'Tis the holiday season once again. Are you looking to share your fondness of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with others? Then have I got a great idea for you - CFD themed gifts! You can use mine that I made earlier or you can create your own. Now, get started creating those knockout, gift-ready CFD images with some guidance for your geometry, meshing, and physics setup. All that's left for me then is to sign off on 2015 wishing you all the best for the holidays and the New Year.

November 2015: FYI DIY CFD

This month is the month for you to give Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) a go. There has never been a better time to benefit from CFD, so find out why the time is now for your own DIY CFD projects. Then, for a taste of something technical, see why CFDers prefer analytic geometry over faceted geometry.

September 2015: Spinning Paper Wings Meet CFD

The theme for this month's newsletter is spinning paper wings. Let Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) be your guide as we progress from a simple spinning paper sheet to a tumblewing, and finish up with a control method (walkalong) for a tumblewing.

August 2015: Are You Ready For CFD?

You've heard that Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) might be able to help with your fluid dynamics application, but you are unsure how to proceed. Then fear not, we've got you covered this month with articles on how to get started with CFD and clarifications on our Caedium CFD offering. Also, see whether CFD has a role in drone design.

July 2015: Summer Cycling, Support, and More CFD Fun

Summer's here at Symscape HQ and therefore it's Tour de France time, so find out why cycling has gone all in on aero. Unrelated - but an important issue - do you know why Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) can be so costly? If not, learn more about the role of technical support. Then to finish up with even more fun than last month, see how Caedium simulated the flow through the pipe networks from a classic screensaver of yesteryear.

June 2015: Unstructured CFD Learning and Productivity

Do you find the thought of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) too daunting? Then read about unstructured learning, otherwise known as play! Next, step up your CFD productivity with some complimentary app suggestions. Finally, with your newly honed skills and productivity, find out how to make a difference in the design process by recognizing and targeting strong form CFD.

May 2015: Unconventional CFD

A why and a couple of how-tos are the tasty treats in store for you this month. Have you ever wondered why you might benefit from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)? If so, be sure to read about the role CFD can play in unconventional design analysis and see if it applies to your design endeavors. Then find out how to create multiple 3D views of your unconventional CFD simulation to best present your results. Finally, for ixCube 4-10 users, check out the video on how to exchange your data with Caedium to design unconventional tensile structures.

April 2015: CFD for a Fully Assembled Dust Buster

Have you ever wondered what a complete Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of a dust collector will reveal? Well wonder no more! Last month you saw the CFD analysis for each component of a dust collector and this month you can see the CFD analysis of a fully assembled dust buster. Of course while you are running your own dust buster CFD simulation you'll want to check in on its progress wherever your schedule takes you, so be sure to read the article on remote CFD. Then, round out your fluids-themed day with some light relief - did you know that we renamed the Navier-Stokes equations for April Fools'? You do now!

March 2015: CFD Dust Busting

This is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) dust busting month! I've performed a series of CFD simulations on the major components of a "Small Dust Collector" by Matthias Wandel of Woodgears. This month's articles systematically evaluate the performance of the blower (reappearing from last month for completeness), cyclone, and filter assembly, so you too can apply the same technique to match your own pumps/blowers to pressure drops through your system.
