November 2009
The wait is finally over - we've released the new Caedium RANS Flow add-on along with the latest version of Caedium (v2.0) for Windows and Linux. In honor of the new release we thought it only fitting that we move up the posting of the November newsletter too - the fact is we couldn't keep quiet about it any longer! In support of the new Caedium RANS Flow add-on we've also added 3 new tutorials. Keen to know more? Keep reading.
Caedium RANS Flow
The new Caedium RANS Flow add-on can simulate realistic (viscous) gas and liquid flow with heat transfer using state-of-the-art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Caedium RANS Flow makes it easy to simulate complex fluid flow around and through your design with Caedium's automated meshing tools and its easy-to-use visualization tools.
Caedium RANS Flow uses a custom version of OpenFOAM®1 that is capable of simulating complex fluid flow and heat transfer over and through virtually any configuration, whether it be the external flow over a wind-turbine, aircraft, car, or a submersible, or the internal flow through a computer case, mining drill, pipe, or duct.

Caedium v2.0
Existing Caedium users also have plenty of reasons to update; for details visit "Caedium v2.0.0 Update". All current Caedium Professional users will automatically have access to the new functionality provided by the Caedium RANS Flow add-on once you update.
New RANS Flow Tutorials
You'll find a new tutorial section called RANS Flow on the Symscape website, which contains 3 new tutorials for the Caedium RANS Flow add-on:
Incompressible Flow Through a Pipe into a Box
Simulate a steady-state turbulent flow through a pipe into a box. View velocity vectors and particle tracks within the flow volume. Read more
Incompressible Transient Flow with Heat Transfer
Simulate an incompressible transient (unsteady), buoyancy-driven (natural convection), turbulent flow with heat transfer. View velocity vectors, temperature iso-surfaces and a temperature plot as the flow evolves over time. Read more
Transonic Flow Over the NACA 0012 Airfoil
Simulate a steady-state, transonic (compressible) turbulent flow around the NACA 0012 airfoil in pseudo 2D. View pressure coefficient (Cp) contours and the Cp distribution over the airfoil surface. Read more
